NHFPI Welcomes Gerard Murphy, CPA to Board of Directors

CONCORD, NH – The New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute (NHFPI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerard Murphy, CPA, of Hopkinton, NH to the Board of Directors. Gerard is the Chief Financial Officer of Kimball Union Academy. He previously held several key state government roles as the New Hampshire State Comptroller, Budget Director to the Governor, and Budget Officer and Financial Analyst to both the Legislature and State Agencies.

“The New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute is the go-to resource for trusted and reliable analyses regarding the State Budget, the State’s economy, and public policy concerns of Granite Staters,” said Gerard Murphy. “I look forward to serving on the NHFPI’s Board of Directors and supporting our efforts to continue to provide nonpartisan research and analysis to inform public policy.”

At Kimball Union Academy, Gerard oversees all financial operations and helps ensure that the school effectively and efficiently reaches its business, operations, and financial goals. Before Kimball Union Academy, Gerard served as the Director of Finance for the New Hampshire Retirement System. He also worked as State Comptroller and Financial Reporting Administrator for the NH Department of Administrative Services, Budget Officer for the Office of Legislative Budget Assistant, Financial Analyst for the NH Department of Transportation, and Staff Auditor for a New England CPA firm. Gerard graduated from Baruch College in New York and Bates College in Maine, where he earned his Master’s in Accountancy and Bachelor’s in Economics, respectively.

“Gerard brings an important perspective honed by his wealth of knowledge of state government budgeting, finance, and accounting to NHFPI’s Board,” said Gene Martin, NHFPI Executive Director. “Gerard’s expertise and counsel will serve NHFPI well as we continue to provide insight into how State Budget decisions are central to the economic well-being of individuals and families.”
