Annual Turnover Among Child Care Workers Projected to be 17 Percent

Recently published projections from New Hampshire Employment Security suggest that turnover for child care workers may be higher than for Granite State occupations overall. Turnover is the combination of child care workers who exit the labor force and employees who transfer to other occupations. The annual turnover of individuals in the child care workforce is expected to range from 7 percent for child care administrators (38 of 572 administrators) to 17 percent (650 of 3,915 workers) for child care workers from the second quarter of 2023 to the same quarter in 2025. The average turnover rate for all New Hampshire occupations is projected to be 11 percent of workers annually during this period.
