New Hampshire’s population increased each year throughout the past decade. The state’s population was estimated to be 1,402,054 people as of July 1, 2023, an increase of about 6.5 percent from 1,316,762 on July 1, 2010. While the population continued to increase during this period, growth slowed between 2022 and 2023 (0.2 percent) relative to all but one year since 2010. Population growth has been largely driven by migration into the state, with net migration from other U.S. states accounting for about 79 percent of population growth from April 2020 to July 2023.
