Workers in Caregiving Occupations Regularly Earn Less than the Overall Median Income of New Hampshire Occupations

Earnings for many workers employed in New Hampshire’s child care and home health caregiving occupations, most of whom are women, are lower than the Granite State’s median income for all occupations. The 2023 median annual earnings for all New Hampshire occupations combined, assuming full-time employment at the median hourly wage, was  $49,980. Using the same methodology based on median hourly wages, however, child care workers earned a median annual salary of $32,490, and home health and personal care aides were paid $34,420. For reference, the 2023 Federal Poverty Guideline for a family of four was $30,000.
