According to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis, an average of about one in four (26.8 percent) Granite State adults who had COVID-19 at any point since the COVID-19 pandemic began went on to develop Post-Acute COVID. This condition, more commonly known as “long-COVID,” is defined as “a chronic condition that occurs after and is caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection and is present for at least 3 months.” About 17.6 percent of adults in the state have experienced long-COVID at any given point since the COVID-19 pandemic began, while about 6.5 percent report still experiencing symptoms, as of September 2024 data.
