More Than 1 in 3 Granite State Adults Struggled to Pay for Usual Household Expenses in June and July 2022

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, more than one in three Granite State adults found paying for usual household expenses somewhat or very difficult during late June and early July 2022. This figure represents a notable increase relative to the comparable survey data from early summer 2021, when only one in four Granite Staters reported paying for usual household expenses was somewhat or very difficult in the prior seven days. The percentage has been on an upward trend since the overall prices for consumer goods began rising faster and since the monthly federal Advance Child Tax Credit payments ended in December 2021.
