U.S. Census Bureau data from 2024 revealed that approximately 16.8 percent of New Hampshire’s working-age population (age 25 to 64) experienced long-COVID at some point since the pandemic began. Long-COVID symptoms may limit an individual’s ability to carry out day-to-day activities, including contributing to the state’s workforce. Using statewide labor force participation and long-COVID rates among the working-age population, an estimated 9,300 New Hampshire workers with long-COVID may be currently experiencing impacts to their work. Among this total number, about 5,300 workers may have reduced their hours worked, while around 4,000 Granite Staters may have left the labor force entirely.
